Bored Business Baboon with Bowler hat eats Bananas while waiting for the Bus with Briefcase.

Good day, ladies and gents I am please to introduce to you the letter “B”. I threw in some other things that start with “B” in this illustration. I am sure only the very keenest of eyes will be able to pick out such subtleties. On the subject of this book project I’ve decided rather than a digital version I’ll try out Lulu.com and make a real live printed version. I am glad to see there is a lot of interest in this book so far!

Elsewhere: Today I’ve a short write up on J.P. Miller on Mr. Leif Peng’s illustration blog Today’s Inspiration.

Alphabet Book

AAAaaa! Don't eat me!!!

Welcome to Steve Mack’s Alphabet Book. In an effort to create fresh content for my blog I’ve decided to start a blog project. I love alphabet books and seeing as how I’ve never been offered to draw one specifically I thought why not create one for my blog. In the end after 26 weeks I can correlate the images into a Flash book for a download to all interested. Watch weekly as a new page is added! Sound like fun? Does to me! So let’s get at it. This week we’ll start it off at everyone’s favorite vowel the letter A.

King Larry!

Featured above: The King of the Jungle! He looks like a “Larry” to me so let’s call him King Larry, king of the lions.

Featured illustrator link this week:

Eric Sturdevant’s blog Fun All Around. Besides being a heck of a great illustrator Eric runs this fantastic blog that showcases the works of some of my favorite illustrators from mid-20th century children’s books! This week is a nod to my most favorite illustrator from that period, J.P. Miller. Eric’s also got a ton of stuff on Flickr. Prepare to be inspired!

BOOM BOOM!

Above is a simple concept piece for an animation I hope to one day produce. It’s one of those back burner projects. In the above I am just playing with shape, texture, color and layout. The usual schtufff…

A couple of new links off to the side I’d like to turn your attentions to:

Neptoon Studios/Todd Kauffman is out putting fantastic work delivered to you on a shiny RSS platter.

With that link it springs to mind an internet pal’s site, Joel Trussell the director of the smash hit War Photographer who is now working together with Neptoon Studios on Camp TV! That show is sure to be a must see!
