Yum!

Another look through my “x-files”! Tonight while I was pondering what to post I decided to look at a folder on my hardrive I call “Art”. Now this folder called “Art” is where I send all the files I do for fun like last weeks dog image. Mostly I create a abundance of weird visuals that serve no other purpose than to just experiment. Needless to say some of these images can get way,way out there. I turn your attention to exhibit A featured above. I couldn’t explain that image to you if I wanted to… let’s all just ponder the great mystery that this image is…

Dog!

Just playing with a new Adobe Illustrator texture set I created for this image. So it’s a random silly drawing. So I thought we could use some random silly prose to go along with it.

I found this poem generator online. Just give it the first sentence and hit enter and you’ve got yourself a custom poem! I could write a whole book like this!

Catch this Daddio:

The dog smelled cabbage tea.

My Uncle Louie has the feet of a sow

Where did I leave those frozen peas?

I see her now!!!!

Please give it a shot and post your outcomes!

Steve

The Starving Prairie Giraffe

Yes, I know it’s been a while since I posted anything of substance on the old blog. Well, I’ve been snowed under with freelance lately! Which is always a good thing. Trouble is I don’t get around to posting very easily. Thanks for the patience. I am not sure how many of you other illustrators/cartoonists/animators do this but when I am working hard on freelance stuff I always pop open a second drawing document in AI. When I hit a rough patch of working too many hours or getting stale with what I am working on I flip to that second document and just start freely creating. Whatever comes into my mind. No rules. Just go. The above image is an example of this process. Done in-between pushing out illustrations. It’s a great way that I’ve found to experiment with scale, light, textures and shape. I find I get “recharged” by working in this method so that when I flip back to my “work, work” I am refreshed and I stave off burn out. Also, a couple of great new blogs I’ve added to my Links section.

First off, head off into the high seas of illustration with your captain Chris Lensch on A Strange Boat. Check out his updated website. Chris is now showing off his masterful paintings and sculpture next to his masterful illustration.

Second off, Dagan Moriarty has a new blog! Awesome! I’ve been a fan of Dagan’s shapes and designs for a while. Glad I can get a dose of Dagan through my RSS feeds now!

Best,
Steve
