Managed to squeeze out a Illustration Friday topic among the present opening and family visiting. We all had a great Xmas at the Mack family household. My son is 15 months and very into ripping wrapping paper. That’s the best part of presents for him at this stage. He just loved tearing up a storm! He’s made Christmas a blast this year and we spoiled him rotten. Now as the year comes to a close I’d like to thank all the people who have visited my little space on the www. Thanks for all the supportive comments. I wasn’t sure where I was going with this blog when I first started it but it’s become a excellent way top get out and stretch my illustrative muscles and try new things. In the new year I will incorporate links and write up’s to peoples work I adore and get inspired by. These will be people that have influence on how I accomplish my work. I look forward to maybe introducing readers of this blog to people I dig.
It’s been a fabulous year of freelancing. I’d like to thank all the Art Directors I’ve worked with this year. I’ve accomplished so many personal goals over the course 2005 thanks to these wonderful people who pay me to do what I love. I am a lucky guy.
All the best in 2006,
Steve

Being a fan of 1940-1960’s illustration I love the work of
Jim Flora and
Alex Steinweiss. One thing I know I missed the boat on that these illustrators had lots of opportunity to illustrate was record covers. Well, I got the opportunity to provide a fun Christmas album cover for a fantastic website called
Falalalala.com. You can download my cover (and the excellent music) for this years 2005 ADVENTure in Carols. I hope you like my Santa. It was fun to design in a format that I felt sailed before I could get the opportunity to experiment in it.Merry Christmas to all!

Bob Staake has a wonderful
Blog up with some very thoughtful columns. If you’re a freelancer you’re sure to get good value out of checking out Mr. Staake’s sage advice and writings. I particularly enjoyed “Being A Freelancer Means Never Having To Say You’re Sorry … For Fartingâ€Best,

I better explain this one…
So sometimes I start these Illustration Friday topics with a good idea in mind. Then over time that idea tends to get bent and formed into something totally different. So trust me please. At one time this little octopus eating a french fry totally had something to do with this week’s topic of small. Trust me.
Best,
Steve
