Whale of a Tale

This weeks topic for Illustration Friday is Aquatic. Time is tight for me this week but I managed to eek this one out.About my process: All my illustrations are completed in program Adobe Illustrator v10. I customized AI so it gives me the textures I wish to produce. I am a big fan of vector but not a big fan of how vector drawings look out of the box. I use to use AI to PS to do the texturing but the doubling of files became unwieldy. So I devised a process that allows AI vectors appear more like natural media. In the end this gives me so much flexibility to keep moving stuff till I am happy with the compositions and textures all in one swoop.

Ambition

Sleepy Daddy

Being a brand new father for the very first time I’ve learned what being sleepy truly means. I am zombie sleepy! Our son is now just 7 months old and still doesn’t sleep through the night. So for me ambition comes in the form of heavily caffeinated coffee(s) and a donut(s) everyday.Best

Get yer hotdogs here! Get 'em while they're hot!

Welcome to Spot Illustration! My name is Steve Mack and I am freelance illustrator. I’ve done illustrations for books, magazines, greeting cards, online, animation and so on… A lot of the time I am requested to do “spot illustrations”.What’s a Spot Illustration? My GAG handbook describes a spot as;

Spot: Small drawing or illustration used as an adjunct to other elements in a advertisement, editorial, or book page.

This site will be dedicated to the art of Spot Illustration. Mainly focusing on my own work but I also hope to speak with illustrator friends and have them share their expertise as well.

I hope you enjoy your visits.

Best,
Steve
